The Caloocan City Council approved last week a resolution naming the newly built hospital along A. Mabini street after the late President Diosdado Macapagal.
Formerly the Ospital ng Caloocan, the new hospital is expected to start operation this month and will now be called the President Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Medical Cen-ter (PDMMMC).
Councilor Benedicto "Dick" Gonzales Jr., the majority floor leader and author of the resolution, said that it is only proper that the hospital be named after the late President as he was responsible for turning Caloocan into a city.

Mrs. Arroyo, he added, has also donated medical equiment to the PDMMMC worth P50 million through the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
