Two hurt in misfire

CEBU, Philippines - A janitor and a 17-year-old minor were injured after the service shotgun of  a security guard assigned at the  Mactan Doctor's HospitaL accidentally went off last Wednesday evening.

Marvin Abejero 26, janitor of the Mactan  Doctor's Hospital and Wendel Capina,17 resident of  Barangay Looc ,Lapu-lapu city were injured after the shotgun of Reymart Dano,,23  and a security guard detailed at the Mactan Doctor's Hospital went-off after he accidentally got hold of its trigger  and a bullet came out and hit a concrete floor.

SPO2 Manolito Abellanosa of the Homicide section of the Lapu-lapu City Police Office said that during their investigation it was found that Dano was conducting a roving  at the third floor of the said hospital at around 10 pm last Wednesday when his shotgun suddenly went-off hitting the concrete floor and the splinters hit Abejero who during that time was cleaning .

The splinters also hit Capina in his right leg  who was just sitting in a bench .

Many scampered away during the incident after  the gun bursts were heard,  while the two victims were immediately rushed to the emergency room of said hospital for medical treatment after the incident.

Dano personally surrendered himself to the responding policemen who also took custody of the 12 gauge Armscor shotgun as police also found an empty shell at the crime scene .

Abejero is now detained at the Lapu-lapu City Police Office headquarters pending the filing of a case of  reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries.  (FREEMAN)
