Man, 25, arrested for gun possession

CEBU, Philippines - After receiving a tip from a concerned citizen, police arrested yesterday dawn in barangay Tabunok, Talisay City a 25-year-old man for possessing a gun.

Arthuro Fiel, of sitio Bakay, barangay Tulay, Minglanilla town is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Comelec gun ban.

The police, led by Senior Inspector Al Pascual, seized from Fiel a loaded .22 caliber magnum revolver, a wig, and nickel brass knuckles.

Police said a concerned citizen told the police station that an armed person was traveling on a motorcycle at the national highway in Tabunok.

Pascual told The Freeman that the motorcycle driven by Fiel’s companion has been impounded by the traffic division after the driver failed to show documents for the vehicle.

But the police released the driver because nothing illegal was found in his possession.

By late yesterday afternoon, The Freeman learned that the motorcycle and its specifications, including the plate number, and the name of the driver had not been recorded yet in the blotter.

Pascual said the police are going over Fiel’s background.  (FREEMAN)
