Mentally ill man perishes in fire

CEBU, Philippines - A mentally ill person died after failing to come out of his room when fire broke out Monday evening at Felicitas Village in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Relatives, who tried to save Anthony Farre, 45, single, could only watch as fire engulfed his room which was on the second floor of a three-door building.

All doors on the second floor were damaged.

SFO3 Roy Garcia of the Mandaue City Fire Department said the fire, which started at the back of the apartment, was triggered by an unattended lit candle.

Damage to property was put at P150,000. — (FREEMAN)
