Biaño to vie for Vice Mayor

CEBU, Philippines - Former Mandaue City Councilor Victor Biaño is returning to politics, with an eye on the vice mayoralty post in Mandaue City.

Biaño, in a press conference yesterday, said he will run for vice mayor in the 2013 local and national elections, adding that he has seven people who will fill up his slate for councilor, namely, former city councilors Emiliano Rosal, Allan Borbajo, Procopio Mendoza, and Elmer “Boy” Cabahug.

Mandaue City College president Paulus Cañete or his mother Dr. Milagros Cañete, barangay Labogon captain Damaso Tumulak, and Romulo Echavez, Jr. will join his slate.

Biaño said he will leave three slots in the slate available to city councilors Emmarie Ouano-Dizon, JP Ceniza, Bethoven Andaya, and Diosdad Suico if they wish to join him.

Biaño said his group has no mayoralty candidate yet but they may support the mayoralty bid of incumbent mayor Jonas Cortes who will be serving his last term.

“It is very difficult to beat an incumbent mayor who is on his last term. We may support Cortes’ mayoralty bid,” Biaño said.
