A city call: The Tumon district

MANILA, Philippines - The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) recently announced Guam’s 2015 calendar of events that are guaranteed to spark the interest of its visitors.

Newly-appointed general manager, Nathan Denight, led the festivities as he shared the upcoming events that aim to further drive the island’s tourism industry.

Offering its Filipino visitors a variety of laid-back and action-packed activities, this year’s line up of events once again aims to meet each one’s discerning taste. From arts and cultural appreciation to outdoor adventure, sports competitions, world-class duty-free shopping, the neo-island paradise of Guam has it all for you.

Travelers who wish to indulge themselves in Guam’s rich Chamorro arts and culture can look forward to the annual Guam Micronesia Island Fair, from May 15 to 17, as the event gathers a wide reach of cultural delegates from nearby islands. As for those who wish to get a scrumptious taste of the island of Guam, the Barbeque Block Party on July 4 is a must-not-miss event with its smorgasbord of the best island inspired BBQ dishes. Apart from the great food, it also features entertainment from local artists to guarantee a fun-filled experience.

Sporting and fitness buffs, on the other hand, can expect a memorable adventure as GVB holds a variety of sporting events, highlighted by its signature events: the third Guam International Marathon on April 12 and the 10th Ko’ko’ Road Race & Kids Fun Run on Dec. 6. Other in-island sporting events include the 2015 Cocos Crossing, XTERRA Guam Championship, and Tour of Guam Cycling.

On top the island’s picturesque beauty, music junkies and artists alike can embark on a musical journey at the Guam Live International Music Festival, which features the hottest local and international artists, happening from June 5 to 6. Major shoppers and fashion enthusiasts can also get an extra treat from Guam with the major exclusive discounts, at duty-free prices, awaiting them at the annual Shop Guam Festival from Nov. 1 to Feb. 15, 2016.
