Poveda celebrates 50th year with first POWER Awards

In 2010, Saint Pedro Poveda College (formerly Institucion Teresiana and Poveda Learning Centre) will celebrate its golden jubilee. Preparations have commenced for this grand event, including the launch of the first POWER (Povedans Outstanding in Work, Ethics and Reforms) Awards.

The POWER Awards is the highest honor bestowed by the Asociacion de Alumnas de Poveda Foundation, Inc. (AAP) in recognition of outstanding alumni who have excelled in various fields of endeavor. Conferred every four years by the AAP, the POWER Awards aim to inspire all Povedans to strive for excellence. The awardees shall be exemplary alumni who espouse empowerment, uphold moral principles and good governance, advocate for reforms for the improvement of society, and promote national pride. This is the hallmark that distinguishes the Povedan who imbibes the teachings of St. Pedro Poveda.

The AAP is now accepting nominations for the POWER Awards in the fields of education, science and technology, arts, health, politics, law and justice, business and commerce, international relations, humanitarian services, pastoral and church service, media and communications, and sports. Posthumous nominations are also accepted. Deadline for the submission of nomination forms and documentation requirements is January 31, 2009.
