MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has strengthened its partnership with the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) in fighting financial crimes.

PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said they made the commitment after a courtesy visit on Tuesday from an AMLC delegation led by executive director Matthew David.

Acorda said the visit highlighted the strong partnership and collaboration between the two agencies against money laundering and other forms of financial crime.

“This meeting signifies the commitment of both organizations to upholding the rule of law, preserving the integrity of the financial system and ensuring the security of the nation,” Acorda said yesterday in a statement.

Acorda lauded the AMLC for its pivotal role in assisting the PNP in dismantling criminal networks, disrupting the flow of illicit funds and bringing perpetrators to justice.

Through collaborative operations, information sharing and capacity-building initiatives, significant progress has been made in the fight against money laundering and related offenses.

The PNP, according to Acorda, will continue to enhance its capabilities, improve intelligence gathering and analysis and streamline investigative processes.

In collaboration with the AMLC, the PNP vows to identify emerging trends, share best practices and develop targeted strategies to effectively disrupt the financial networks of criminal syndicates.

“By working hand in hand, a network of vigilant officers committed to protecting the financial system and preventing the misuse of funds for criminal purposes can be established. With determination and unwavering dedication, the PNP and the AMLC will continue to safeguard the nation from the scourge of financial crimes,” Acorda said.
