MANILA, Philippines — Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula has been appointed cardinal-priest of the Parrocchia San Vigilio in Rome, a few days after his recent meeting with Pope Francis.

In a post on Facebook, the Parrocchia San Vigilio invited Catholic devotees to witness Advincula’s canonical possession on April 30 at 7 p.m. Rome time.

“We are all invited to participate in the Eucharistic celebration for this very important moment in the history of the parish and our community,” the Parrocchia San Vigilio said.

Advincula became part of the consistory on Nov. 28, 2020, along with 12 other bishops of the Catholic Church.

With his new role, Advincula will be taking care of the Catholic Churches in Rome that are called “titles” and are traditionally under the jurisdiction of one parish.

On April 21, Advincula met with Pope Francis and Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, dean of the College of Cardinals.
