Gibo is Duterte's top senatorial pick
MANILA, Philippines — Former defense secretary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro is President Duterte’s top senatorial pick this coming elections, as revealed during The President’s Chatroom, a one-on-one interview with senatorial candidates broadcast on PTV4.
“Alam ko ‘yong gusto mo talagang magsilbi sa bayan. Ako, iboboto kita number one (I know you want to serve the nation. I will vote for you, number one),” Duterte told Teodoro in Filipino during the interview.
The President has recognized Teodoro’s wisdom in law, being the 1989 Bar topnotcher who also finished his Master of Laws at Harvard Law School. He then passed the New York State Bar examination.
Duterte also emphasized that Teodoro is not tainted with any corruption when he served as defense chief. He likewise believes that the candidate’s platform will usher development and recovery for the country.
The senatorial aspirant’s advocacies include expediting COVID-19 vaccinations, accessible quality education, maintaining peace and order, food security and sustainability, connectivity, upgrading the military and police and synergy between the public and private sectors.
“Now, ako na ang nagsasabi sa inyo na ito ang talagang puwedeng maging senador at (I’m the one saying to you that he deserves to be a senator and) he must,” Duterte said.
“Tayo and magkukulang kung hindi natin iboto si Gibo sa Senado (We will lose out if we don’t vote for Gibo for the Senate),” he added.
