Gibo: Infrastructure, stable business environment to lure investors
MANILA, Philippines — Building necessary infrastructures and creating a stable business environment for investors will help the country attract more investments, former defense secretary and senatorial candidate Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro said yesterday.
Teodoro, who has vast experience in public and private sectors in various industries, said investment, particularly in the manufacturing sector, is ideal for the country as it generates more employment and livelihood opportunities.
“Even though we liberalize our economy, if we do not have the proper infrastructure and the proper regulatory framework to invite both domestic and foreign investments, and if we do not have the ease of doing business, then we will not have industries coming in,” he said.
The former Tarlac congressman said investors should feel that the Philippines is a safe haven for their investments so they can further expand operations in the country.
“Investors need to have that confidence so that their investments here will be stable. This, we need to establish even with the changes in the political administration,” the topnotcher in the 1989 Bar exams said.
