One of Philippines largest fraternities backs Bongbong-Sara tandem

MANILA, Philippines — One of the Philippines’ largest fraternities has endorsed the presidential and vice presidential bids of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Lakas-CMD chair Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, respectively, and its allied Tingog party-list.

The Scouts Royale Brotherhood International Service Fraternity and Sorority Inc. (SRB), through its national and international officers, has unanimously thrown its support behind Marcos and Carpio, adding to the long list of groups and organizations that have gravitated toward the UniTeam tandem.

The SRB has also endorsed Tingog party-list for election to the House of Representatives.

“The SRB is convinced that Tingog party-list’s thrust of championing regional development is critical in charting a productive future as the Philippines reels from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The countryside progress that Tingog party-list aspires for is consistent to the SRB’s vision of molding individuals who aspire to work in brotherhood for the betterment of society,” the SRB said.

House Majority Leader and Lakas-CMD president Martin Romualdez welcomed the SRB’s endorsement of the tandem, which came as Marcos and Carpio continue to maintain their overwhelming leads over their rivals in the campaign, just two months before the presidential elections.

“We welcome the support. We are glad that more and more groups and organizations such as the SRB are hearing the messages of hope, economic recovery and development of the BBM-Sara tandem, and are heeding its call for unity,” Romualdez said using the popular acronym of Marcos’ name.

The SRB made its official endorsement of Marcos and Carpio through the Manifesto of Unity and Support that its officers had signed and issued on behalf of the group, a copy of which was given to Romualdez, who represented the UniTeam tandem, by SRB chairman Emmanuel Sipin.

In supporting the Marcos-Carpio tandem, the SRB acknowledged that the presidential and vice presidential candidates’ “crusade” to unite the nation is significant in charting a productive future for the country as it suffers from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group also said the call for unity of Marcos and Carpio complements the vision of SRB, which is to mold individuals “who aspire to work in brotherhood for the betterment of society.”

Romualdez assured the SRB that Marcos, who had previously served as governor, congressman and senator, has sterling training, qualities and accomplishments and is more than ready to lead the country to unprecedented growth and glory.

He said the country is assured of recovery, with Filipinos having better lives under the Marcos-Carpio tandem.

Meanwhile, Carpio has stressed the importance of education as a way out of poverty.

President Duterte’s daughter explained the role that education plays among families in Barangay 105 in Tondo, Manila over the weekend.
