Health protocols to be enforced at EDSA rites
MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will strictly enforce COVID-19 health protocols during the commemoration of EDSA people power revolution tomorrow.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said police presence would be intensified and security control points would be set up to prevent mass gatherings, which remain prohibited under quarantine guidelines.
Danao also ordered police personnel to carry yantok or wooden sticks to remind those attending the EDSA celebration to observe physical distancing measures.
He said safety protocols would be implemented by police to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement a zipper lane along White Plains Avenue on EDSA tomorrow.
Traffic enforcers will be deployed along White Plains Avenue and nearby areas as early as 4 a.m., the MMDA said.
The MMDA said plastic barriers and traffic cones would be installed in front of the EDSA Shrine.
There would be no road closures, the MMDA said.
