LPA off Catanduanes becomes Tropical Depression Jenny

MANILA, Philippines— The state weather bureau on Monday afternoon reported that the Low Pressure Area it is monitoring in Catanduanes has developed into Tropical Depression “Jenny.”

The LPA, which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday morning, was last located in east of Virac, Catanduanes and has intensified into a tropical depression at 2 p.m.

At 3 a.m., this LPA was estimated at 770 kilometers East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

This tropical depression will likely affect Northern Luzon and is seen to make landfall.

PAGASA also advised the public that the southwest monsoon or habagat is currently affecting Southern Luzon and the Visayas. 

Jenny is the tenth cyclone to affect the country this year. —Rosette Adel
