‘Karding’ slows down; monsoon rain to affect Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Karding has slightly slowed down while moving in a northwest direction, state weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday morning.
“Karding”—last seen 1,200 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes—will likely leave the country on Saturday.
It is traversing northwest at 10 kilometers per hour, slightly slower than the previous 15 kilometers per hour.
Tropical Storm Karding maintained its strength with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour.
“Karding” and the low pressure area over the West Philippine Sea may enhance the southwest monsoon.
Scattered to widespread to heavy rains will affect Northern and Central Luzon, especially over the western portion, starting Friday.
“Sea travel remains risky over the western seaboard of Luzon,” PAGASA said.
