Comelec reveals final 6 bets for VP race

MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday revealed the final list of the candidates for the vice presidential race next year.

Comelec Chair Andres Bautista said in a press conference that the list of the candidates for the vice presidential list is already final.

The final candidates for the vice presidency are the following:

• Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano
• Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero
• Sen. Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan II
• Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
• Camarines Sur Rep. Ma. Leonor "Leni" Robredo
• Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV

The list will be final unless one of the candidates will withdraw from the vice presidential race, Bautista said.

All other aspirants for the position were declared as nuisance candidates.

During the filing of certificates of candidacy from October 12 to 16, 19 individuals have expressed their intent for the vice presidency.

Meanwhile, the Comelec revealed that the initial number of presidential bets is 23 as of Wednesday. There are 68 initial senatorial bets while the number of party-list groups is pegged at 119.

The final list of candidates will be released by the Comelec en banc between January 18 to 20 next year.

The ballot design phase will be executed from January 20 to March 31 next year while ballot printing will run from March 26 to April 12, 2016.
