Wife of pyramid scam brains accused of bribing cops

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Abigail Pendulas, the wife of alleged Aman Futures scam brains Manuel Amalilio, allegedly tried to bribe police officers who arrested her in Pampanga on Friday.

In a text message to The STAR, Regional Intelligence Division 3 (RID3) head Chief Inspector Melvin Montante said Pendulas offered the arresting team P100 million in exchange for her release.

Montante did not say whether the offer was made during the arrest or after Pendulas was brought to the Police Regional Office-3 headquarters.

At around 8 a. m. yesterday, local journalists received a text message saying a press briefing would be held at 10 a.m. at Camp Olivas about the alleged bribe attempt.

The message said Montante would be at the briefing to answer queries from the media.

Journalists, however, found out there was no press briefing set for the day.

Pendulas, 26, was arrested by RID3 operatives at Party Place restaurant in Barangay Dolores, San Fernando in Pampanga.

The arrest was based on a warrant issued by Judge Alberto Quinto of Iligan City for syndicated estafa. No bail was recommended for the suspect’s release.

Pendulas’ companion, identified as May Leechelle Ohales, allegedly tried to help her slip away by creating a scene at the restaurant.

The suspect had her face changed through cosmetic surgery.
