STAR fund drive to assist Yolanda victims

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Amid widespread calls for relief in calamity-stricken Visayas, The Philippine STAR expresses its oneness with our unfortunate kababayans by way of a fund drive for Yolanda victims and appeals to the kindhearted to send their donations to its social arm, Operation Damayan.

Operation Damayan, headed by STAR president and CEO Miguel Belmonte, conducts year-round social responsibility projects focused on relief, education and medical assistance, most recently distributing P3 million worth of relief goods in Bohol following the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck the province in October.

The STAR Group of Companies has spearheaded the Yolanda fund drive anew with a P.5 million donation, together with Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, which has pitched in P250,000. We have also received anonymous donations from TGFHA, P50,000; Mr. M, P50,000; and SB, P.5 million.

Philippine STAR columnist Jarius Bondoc, who recently won the Metrobank Journalist of the Year award, decided to split the prize money he won for the prestigious award and generously donated P150,000 to victims of the typhoon.

To help send relief to families in areas devastated by super typhoon Yolanda, cash donations may be sent to: The Philippine STAR Operation Damayan c/o MBTC Aduana Branch Savings Account No. 151-7-15152422-9 (kindly fax deposit slip to tel. no. 527-6857 c/o Operation Damayan).

For inquiries and donations in kind, please call 336-9598 and look for Damayan head Emie Cruz, email [email protected], follow @philippinestar on Twitter or visit www.facebook.com/ThePhilippineSTAR for updates.
