Pinay maid files sex complaint vs Phl envoy to Kuwait

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Shulan Primavera faces an investigation after being accused of sexually harassing an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).

Susan Ople, Blas Ople Policy Center head, said they have submitted a sworn affidavit of the victim to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

“We are not asking for the removal from office of Ambassador Primavera, we just want a fair investigation and due process,” Ople said in an interview.

Ople said the 28-year-old OFW from Leyte ran away from her Kuwaiti employer and sought refuge at the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) shelter.

She said the diplomat took the Filipino from the shelter and employed her as maid in his home.

“While working at the ambassador’s house, the Filipino OFW was sexually harassed and suffered forced labor trafficking,” Ople said.

Ople said the victim, whom she called “Mabel,” claimed there were three incidents of sexual harassment involving the diplomat.

The OFW said she is ready to face the diplomat at the appropriate inquiry.– With Delon Porcalla, Rainier Allan Ronda
