RP thanks migrant workers

-

MANILA, Philippines - Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will be honored during the Araw ng Pasasalamat tomorrow, an official said yesterday.

About 40,000 families of OFWs in 17 regions are expected to take part in the event.

Administrator Carmelita Dimzon of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said the celebration serves as a venue for the government to express gratitude to OFWs.

The nationwide festivities include entertainment, gift-giving, fun and games for the enjoyment of OFWs and their families.

In Metro Manila, Labor Secretary Marianito Roque will lead the celebration.

Activities at the track oval of the Ninoy Aquino Memorial Stadium in Manila include a parade of delegates, OFW Family Circle Olympics, a photo exhibit, induction of new officers of the OFWs NCR Federation, a serenade by singer Adel Regeliana, an audio-visual presentation, a dance performance by the OFC Youth Movers, and musical numbers by the Bloomfields Band and the Bayang Barrios String Quarter, and fireworks.
