President Arroyo’s lead over her chief rival, actor Fernando Poe Jr., has widened to 10.5 percent, according to a recent survey.

The results of this survey showed that the ratings of the President, who leads the administration Koalisyon ng Katapatan at Karanasan para sa Kinabukasan (K-4) ticket, have risen to 36.9 percent over Poe’s 26.4 percent. Poe is seeking the presidency under the banner of the Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP).

The daily Manila Standard commissioned NFO Trends to conduct a nationwide presidential survey for the period of April 20 to 22.

According to the survey, independent presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Alyansa ng Pag-asa standard-bearer Raul Roco and Bangon Pilipinas Movement (BPM) presidential bet Eddie Villanueva are trailing the top two contenders for the presidency, with Lacson garnering 13.2 percent; Roco, 8.9 percent, and Villanueva, 5.2 percent.

Some 9.5 percent of the respondents surveyed were undecided.

The survey covered 1,200 interviewees — 300 in Metro Manila, 150 in northern Luzon, 150 in southern Luzon, 300 in the Visayas and 300 in Mindanao.

The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.

The NFO survey also showed that K-4 vice-presidential bet Sen. Noli de Castro is leading the pack with 47 percent, while KNP’s Sen. Loren Legarda comes in second with 35.5 percent. Alyansa ng Pag-asa vice-presidential candidate Herminio Aquino got a 3.6 percent rating, while 12.9 percent of respondents were either undecided or did not answer the question of their choice for vice president.
