Liza Diño-Seguerra proud mom after daughter’s admission to Stanford University

MANILA, Philippines — Liza Diño-Seguerra called herself a “proud Stanford mom” after her daughter Amara got into the prestigious American university, with also securing admission to an Ivy League school.
The former chair of the Film Development Council of the Philippines shared her family’s good news on Facebook on Sunday, March 29.
“I AM A PROUD STANDFORD MOM!!! Our daughter just got accepted to STANFORD UNIVERSITY! Yup. THE Stanford University,” Diño-Seguerra wrote.
Her daughter, Amara, is set to study Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University in California. She was also accepted at Columbia University, while her application to another Ivy League school, Harvard, is waitlisted. Amara was additionally accepted at other California universities, including UC Berkeley and the University of Southern California.
“Never in a million years could I have imagined that my precious baby girl, who used to get B’s in Math, who had to take Kumon so her grades will improve just got accepted in one the top 3 universities IN THE WORLD,” she shared.
Liza's Facebook post shows her shocked but happy face alongside her daughter, Amara, and partner, singer Ice Seguerra.
She recalled how they had recently celebrated Amara’s 18th birthday while awaiting her college entrance results, describing the experience as “an emotional rollercoaster.”
“But this isn’t luck. This is hard work. This is discipline. This is you showing up over and over again, even when it wasn’t easy. This is all you! So my love, embrace it. Be proud of it. Celebrate it because you have earned every single bit of this,” she continued.
Liza reminded her daughter that she and Ice will be supportive of her decision.
