Fernando Poe Sr.
Fernando Poe Sr.’s action pictures
REMEMBER WHEN? - Danny Dolor (The Philippine Star) - September 15, 2019 - 12:00am

War sagas. South Sea adventures. Dramas. Costume movies. And of course, action pictures.

Those film genres Fernando Poe Sr. had topbilled. He produced and directed many of his starrers.

Remember When? uses ads of three of Poe Sr.’s action pictures: Ali Mudin, Hagibis and Anak ni Palaris, shown in the ‘40s.

Solo photo was taken from Carmencita Mia, which has a bit of acton but really more of light drama with Mexican flavor. Leading lady was Carmen Rosales.

His son, Fernando Poe Jr., was introduced at 15 years old in the mid-’50s in a starring role in Anak ni Palaris, a folk hero of Pangasinan, where the Poes come from. — RKC
