The Miss Universe first runner-up expressed her gratitude to her supporters from her country and the international community.

"I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength... Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this," the Colombian beauty queen said.

Gutierrez also congratulated Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach for winning the Miss Universe 2015 crown.

"The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible," Gutierrez said.

Host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Gutierrez as the winner of the Miss Universe on Sunday night (Monday morning, Philippine time) instead of Wurtzbach.

The Miss Universe Organization later on apologized to Gutierrez and Wurtzbach for the error in the announcement of winners.
