MANILA, Philippines – The national costume show is perhaps one of the most anticipated events in the Miss Universe.

And it seems like the national costume show of the 64th Miss Universe, held on Wednesday (Thursday morning, Philippine time), did not disappoint with its elaborate, out-of-this-world and even bizarre dresses and outfits.

LOOK: Pia Wurtzbach's terno national costume in 2015 Miss Universe

Miss Universe Thailand Aniporn Chalermburanawong already had pre-pageant buzz for her “tuk-tuk” national costume, which made headlines around the world.

Meanwhile, Pinoy pageant fans praised Philippine bet Pia Wurtzbach’s capiz terno made by Filipino designer Albert Andrada.

But Pia’s terno can still be described as simple—compared to the costume worn by the other contestants.

For instance, Miss Austria Amina Dagi went out on stage as a bearded woman reminiscent of Conchita Wurst, an Austrian recording artist and drag queen who won the Eurovision Song Contest last year.

Miss USA Olivia Jordan and Miss Great Britain Nena France wore outfits inspired by their national costumes, although with some alterations.
