Bubblegum pop with Pinoy flair

MANILA, Philippines - The Pop Girls band has been around for quite sometime, and the song-and-dance group’s former members include the now young diva Anja Aguilar, model Shy Carlos and teen movie idol Nadine Lustre of Diary ng Panget fame.

The current line-up of Pop Girls consists of the following bubbly and talented teens: Joanna Morales, 18; Carlyn Ocampo, 18; Rose Van Ginkel, 18; and Aubrey Caraan, 16. The quartet dishes out high-energy dance music in the new album Jumpstart.

The carrier single Baby Boy is an electronic-pop dance number complete with a catchy chorus. It’s an original OPM track that is easy on the ears and composed specifically for the young ears. It captures the element of fun party music. Its music video is now out on YouTube.

Jumpstart has new and original Tagalog songs like Miss Na Miss Kita, the R&B-flavored Torpe and the up-tempo track Pasikot-Sikot. Pop Girls’ Aubrey, Rose, Joanna and Carlyn keep the energy up all throughout the five-song set, at the same time, they can definitely sing in harmony.

Jumpstart’s roster of songwriters and the people behind the music production work includes Jonathan Ong, Toto Sorioso, Flipmusic producers Bojam de Belen, Pow Chavez, Kidwolf, Marcus Davis and Civ Fotnilla.

Meanwhile, Pop Girls is one of the nominees at the 27th Awit Awards under the category Best Performance by a Group Recording Artist.
