Rachel to sing at Salon de Ning

MANILA, Philippines - What better way to top off a Holy Week family vacation than a fun concert on the beach?

That’s precisely what father-and-daughter tandem Hajji and Rachel Alejandro treated the audience with at the exclusive Balesin Island Club last Black Saturday.

In a show for the whole family, Hajji and Rachel performed a mix of all-time favorites as well as current hits, and even got part of the audience to dance along for some of the songs in the presence of well-known personalities like beauty queen Margie Moran-Floriendo, Miss Universe 1973, Mario and Babot Oreta, and Abe and Nini Licaros.

So what is the pair up to these days?

Hajji is still ageless and ever popular among his female fans — several of whom kept calling out to him from the crowd — while Rachel follows in his footsteps, looking fabulous and electrifying the stage with boundless energy.

Already a successful business owner, published author of The Sexy Chef Cookbook and soon-to-be host of her first cooking show on Colours (Cignal Digital TV), Rachel has also performed in quite a few musicals over the last few years — namely, Avenue Q, Xanadu, Aida and Rock of Ages with Atlantis Productions — but continues to enjoy performing in concerts.

“I’m known for my versatility in singing style. I started out my recording and concert career as the young girl who could do anything — sing, dance but also belt out Broadway tunes and ballads. Back in the day, both my biggest mentors — Martin Nievera and of course, my dad used to help me write spiels for my concerts. Today, I feel I can just talk to my audience and feel completely at home on stage,” Rachel said.

The Salon de Ning show is just the first of many gigs planned for the second half of the year, leading up to Rachel’s anniversary shows at Music Museum to celebrate 25 years in the music industry.
