More surprises from PEP

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - For the past six years, Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph) has become a one-stop shop for anything showbiz.

With nearly 50 million page views since its launch in 2007 — the site earned 6.7 million page views on its launch night alone — PEP has garnered a reputation for being a source for the hottest online news and features in local entertainment.

This year, PEP sets its sights on bringing bigger and better things to readers, with the launch of its new design and a new engaging feature.

Beginning last March 14, the online counterpart of YES! Magazine will stir up the entertainment industry with The PEP List 2013.

Who’s hot, well-liked, the industry’s major players, the brightest names… those are just some of the personalities bound to be recognized through the awards.

“Our year-long goal is to come up with a list, which we hope will become the most reliable showbiz meter,” says PEP editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon.

What will separate The PEP List from other award-giving bodies are the 10 categories based on numbers, which will be verified by a reputable editing firm.

The Newsmakers of the Year (Male and Female), Single Most-Read PEP Article and Most-Watched PEPtalk will be drawn from the number of page views and unique visitors garnered by each article.

The Love Team of the Year, Teen Star of the Year (Male and Female), Photo of the Year and Most Talked-About Personality will be based on the number of likes, comments, and shares on social networks.

The Hot Movie of the Year will be derived from figures and rankings to be provided by major cinemas.

The Face of the Year will be given to the star with the most number of magazine covers.

The Razziest Award will go to the star with the most number of entries submitted to PEParazzi.

The PEP editorial staff will also be honoring the projects and personalities that made a mark this year: TV Show of the Year, TV Male and Female Star of the Year, Showbiz Treasure of the Year, Child Star of the Year, Breakout Star of the Year, Pinoy Pride, OPM Artist of the Year, FAB Award, The Good Samaritan, Staff Reporter of the Year, Top Three Contributors and The Star who made interviews more exciting.

A PEPster’s Choice version of the list will give readers and fans the chance to vote for their idols.

“The selection process will be tedious,” says Maglipon.

Awards for The PEP List 2013 will be given out on Feb. 14, 2014.
