No Way Out: First venture with Korea

Tamaraw Studios partnered in 1963 with Korea in producing the war picture No Way Out, starring Leopoldo Salcedo, Ronald Remy, Lalaine Bennett and Lou Salvador Jr.

Introduced were Korean stars Kim Sung Ho, Park Noh Shik, Choi Ji Hee and Kim Un Hee.

Then the Philippines was the leading movie producer in Asia, next to Japan. Now, Korean films are all over the world. Filipinos watch Korean soaps and idolize its singers and stars, especially Rain.

Lamberto V. Avellana directed what was billed as the first Philippine-Korean co-production. — RKC
