GMA wins big this awards season

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - GMA continues to extend brand loyalty from television households to the academe. Amid the growing base of its nationwide audience, the Kapuso network recently earned nods from two separate academe-based award-giving bodies.

GMA News and Public Affairs won four major citations in the recently-concluded 10th Gawad Tanglaw Awards.

24 Oras, anchored by Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez, was named Best News Program. Imbestigador, bannered by Mike, won the Best Investigative Program award while Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho was named Best Magazine Show. Vicky Morales, in turn, was recognized as Best News Program Anchor for GMA’s late-night newscast, Saksi.

The network’s flagship AM radio station DZBB, on the other hand, was named Radio Station of the Year while local TV’s longest running gag show Bubble Gang won the Best Gag Show award.

GMA News and Public Affairs was also recognized in the sixth Hildegarde Awards, which aims to honor women in communication, organized recently by the St. Scholastica’s College.

Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and GMA News TV’s The Good News with Vicky Morales bagged the Outstanding Achievement in Broadcast Journalism award. Meanwhile, GMA News’ social media-related campaign, Think Before you Click, was given the Outstanding Achievement on Development Communication Award.
