The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (MOWELFUND) is celebrating its 37th anniversary on March 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Mowelfund Plaza, No. 66 Rosario Drive, Quezon City. The celebration will start with a Mass followed by free medical and dental services, service awards and entertainment not just for the members but also for their children.

The highlight of the Saturday’s celebration is the launching of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and Mowelfund’s sweepstakes partnership.

Invited as guests of honor are former Pres. Joseph “Erap” Estrada who traditionally gives an inspirational talk as founder and chairman emeritus, and PCSO chairman Margie Juico. Also expected to attend are representatives from LVN Pictures, Premiere and Sampaguita Pictures for the formal turnover of their respective memorabilia for the Mowelfund Museum.

There will also be a children’s party for some 300 dependents of Mowelfund members which will include games and giveaways courtesy of Princess Aquino and family.

Mowelfund, founded by Erap in 1974, has been serving its 4,500 members not only through its hospitalization, surgery, medical reimbursements and death benefits but also through livelihood, alternative income opportunities and housing projects.

The Mowelfund Board of Trustees is composed of industry stalwart Marichu Vera-Perez Maceda who sits as its chairman. Vice chairman is National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, Eddie Romero while the other board members are film director Edgardo “Boy” Vinarao, composer Josefino Cenizal, Rez Cortez and Boots Anson-Roa who also serves as the foundation’s executive director.

The event is made possible though Mowelfund’s supportive partners: Erap, PCSO Medical Team, SM Foundation, Jollibee Food Corp., M & H Food Corp., Universal Robina Food Corp., Pan de Amerikana, Dr. Vicki Belo, Charo Santos-Concio, Gov.
