Myrus receives gold record award

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - After a series of sold-out album sales in his mall shows, Sony Music recording artist Myrus achieved the gold record status for his debut album Love Cycle.

Today, Myrus, known for his reinterpretation of Claire dela Fuente’s Sayang will be given the award in A.S.A.P. ’09.

“I am happy to all my supporters for making my first album such a big hit this year. I didn’t expect it to reach gold that fast,” he says.

According to Myrus, Love Cycle was first released by Sony Music as an all-original album in November, 2008 with the single Laging Ikaw. His producer and manager Chris Cahilig decided to repackage the critically acclaimed album in August with the revival of Sayang and the upbeat song Kaya Mo! by Dice and K9.

The year 2009 seems to favor Myrus. Aside from being one of the most sought-after performers in corporate shows, he won the ASEA Most Promising Young R&B Artist and was nominated in the best solo R&B category of the first Philippine Radio Music Awards for Laging Ikaw.

Meanwhile, his sense of style won him the White Flower Male Star of the Night in the PMPC Star Awards for Music in November.

Buyers of the album will get the chance to join a raffle that includes as prizes a MacBook White, HP Mini, iPod Touch, and iPod Shuffles. Ten percent discount stubs for selected Binalot branches will also be given away during the album promo shows.

For details, call 706-3373, 687-2649 or 0921-4446914. His album is supported by White Flower Embrocation, the Mendez Medical Group, BlackWater by Ever Bilena, and Dental First.
