An alternative music for the soul

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - International gospel songwriter, singer and worship leader Bob Fitts said one of his memorable Manila concerts was when a brownout took place and plunged the Cuneta Astrodome into complete darkness.

“For a while I thought we had to stop the concert but before I knew it, I saw a sea of cell phones swaying and dancing in the dark. It was a touching and beautiful sight,” said Fitts in a presscon held recently at the Barbara’s Restaurant in Intramuros.

Fitts, 49, is credited with several  worship concerts that he has staged worldwide among them the Take My Healing to the Nations, Live Worship with Bob Fitts, A Taste of Heaven — New  Creation Church and Restore, among others. His other memorable concerts where the ones he did in Seoul with 2,000 dancers and with 80,000 people in the audience and another in Nigeria with 50,000 Nigerians singing and dancing to his worship music.

Bob has been writing worship songs since the early ‘70s during his student days at the Corona High School days in California before he acquired a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry.

“Gospel concerts are all about good news and what good things we can do with our lives. They are a welcome relief from what we read these days which are mostly  about people losing jobs and homes and people committing suicide out of despair. Mine is alternative music with message of hope and redemption,” he said.

Bob is  scheduled to give a concert on April 24, 7 p.m. at the Megatent (besides Renaissance Center) in Ortigas Center, Pasig City for the benefit of the Jubilee Homes for the Poor Foundation.
