Local coaches learn from FC Barcelona coaches

CEBU, Philippines — Not only the aspiring football players, but also local coaches got a chance to hone their skills and receive expert instruction from accomplished coaches of FC Barcelona Youth Academy during the first day of Milo Philippine’s ‘Road to Barcelona’ camp yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Coaches from the Cebu Football Association said they learned to be more prepared ahead of time and give importance to team effort.

“We learn to be very professional and even the kids.  Everyone has to work and observe team effort. Everyone should be given responsibility,” said Dino Musni.

Coach Jingoy Roa also said that FC Barcelona’s standard in coaching is constantly evolving. It has become more systematic and it also gives emphasis on players’ attitude.

“Technical-wise, we are not so much apart, but we learn to have a better understanding towards our players, not only in terms of skills but also in values,” said Roa.

Coach Bryan Eborda, for his part, said that coaches should also listen to the players concern instead of just giving instructions during games and practices.

Over 160 young athletes from all over the country took part of the world-class training camp yesterday.

After the two-day camp, seven young players will be selected to be sent to Barcelona Spain to train in Camp Nou, the home of FC Barcelona.
