Thirsty football draws 242 teams

CEBU, Philippines - The Thirsty Cup football festival lived up to its reputation as the event with the most number of out-of-town entries after attracting 10 other places in the country to join its eighth edition beginning tomorrow at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The out-of-town squads include Manila, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Bohol, Dumaguete, Siaton and Bayawan in Oriental Negros, Baybay, Leyte and San Carlos City.

They will be fielding in several teams in different divisions featured in the three-day tilt. All in all, a total of 242 teams signed up for the event.

The categories to be contested are the players 6, 8 and 10 for the mixed categories along with boys and girls 12 14 and 19, boys 17, ladies and men’s open, men’s 36 and 42-above. – (FREEMAN)
