29TH HALAD KANG MANO AMON RUN: Duenas to defend throne

CEBU, Philippines - Philip Duenas is dead set to defend his title in the 29th Halad Kang Mano Amon Run early this morning starting and ending at the Danao City Hall grounds. He, however, has an option to race in the all-Danao open class.

Should he decide to compete in the premiere men’s open category, Duenas is expected to face tough challenge against Kenyan missionary Simon Losiaboi, who is undefeated in local races he joined, so far.

Aside from Losiaboi, the RP Team-trained Mendel Lopez is also out to give Duenas a run for his money.

In the distaff side, the Cebu-based Zamboangeña Mary Grace de los Santos will show up to defend her crown. She is no doubt the heavy favorite as she has not yet lost in running events she participated in since last year.

Aside from the open division, the Danao City Sports Commission-organized event also features the Cebu and Danao executives class, 5K secondary and collegiate and the 3-k for elementary boys and girls.

Cash prizes amounting to P86,000 and medals are at stake for the top performers of the one-day tilt staged to commemorate the birthday of Danao’s grand old man - the late Ramon Durano, Sr.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
