The country’s finest collegiate teams will showcase their talents starting today with the opening of the 52nd National Students Basketball Championships (NSBC) at the Cebu Coliseum.
A simple opening ceremony will kick off the week-long tilt starting at 1 pm.
As of this writing last night though, the schedule of games were still being decided in a coaches’ meeting presided over by league organizer and BAP-SBP Cebu Province 7 director Lorenzo “Chao” Sy at La Fortuna Hotel.
Seven-time CESAFI champion University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers will spearhead Cebu’s campaign even as the likes of Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras, University of San Carlos (USC), Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers, and newcomer Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights are out to pull some major surprise.
In the juniors side, Cebu fielded in a similarly competitive contingent that includes the UV Baby Lancers, the University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters and Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J) Eagles.
