Nillas, Santos top 1st Rudy Girl Challenge

Cebuana swimmer Mary Ann Nillas and rower Tanya Santos blended well to win the 1st Rudy Girl Challenge at the La Mesa Forest Reserve and Eco Park over the weekend.

During the race day, Nillas went to the venue without a partner, but fortunately she found a gem in Tanya Santos.

Nillas and Santos, racing under the banner of Kulot Power, did not just win their class, they also crossed the finish line ahead of the 46-team field tilt after the grueling six-hour race where they overcame different challenges that include mountainbiking, trekking, rapelling, combat skills training challenge, swimming at the lake, puzzle-solving, running and a question-and-answer about La Mesa.

"Grabe kaayo akong naagian nga kalisod. But I really wanted to be in Manila and join the event. Sa akong ka malas-malas, mao ni akong nab-tan nakadaug pa gyud mi. Lipay kaayo ko," said Nillas.

Behind Kulot Power was Jennifer Corpuz and Lenina Ocampo, while the third place went to Team MMS2 of Nina Singcol and Heidi Samo. The fourth and fifth spots were occupied by Team Jaluex and Team Posible, respectively.

In the novice class, the Pirates of Chari Ongyango and Christine Navarro won the top post, while the veterans saw Team Conquest of UST's Flou Descaller and Elaine Lerios winning the first place honors.
