10 CV hospitals get star awards

CEBU, Philippines — At least 10 health facilities in Central Visayas received the Hospital Star Awards from the Department of Health.

The awards were given recently through the Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Bureau. The awardees include the Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital for level 1 category; Cebu South General Hospital, Inc.  for level 2 category; and Cebu South Medical Center;  Chong Hua Hospital-Fuente, and University of Cebu Medical Center - UCMed, Inc. for level 3 category.

Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) obtained the highest star rating four in the Green and Safe Health Facilities Award while Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center;  Eversley Child Sanitarium and General Hospital; Don Emilio Del Valle Memorial Hospital; and St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital received the three star rating.

According to DOH, the awarding ceremony was a significant celebration aimed to recognize hospitals and health facilities that have excelled in delivering exceptional health care and demonstrated commendable commitment to environmental sustainability and healthcare safety practices.

DOH added that the ceremony did not only recognize outstanding healthcare institutions but also marked the official launch of the Malasakit Program Awards, signifying a new chapter in healthcare excellence. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
