CEBU, Philippines — The venue for the Sinulog 2024 will remain at the South Road Properties (SRP), said Jojo Labella, executive director of Sinulog Foundation, Inc.

"Which of course (we are) working it out na and every much improved na kaysa atong venue last year," said Labella in an interview posted on social media yesterday.

According to Labella, the Sinulog 2024 will be dubbed as Sinulog sa Sugbo Philippines 2024 as the foundation is trying to tap all the other festivals in the country.

With the retention of SRP as Sinulog venue, Labella assured that it will have better facilities wherein bleachers are already in place while roofing is also being worked out in anticipation of the heat.

For the Sinulog 2024, Labella said that there will be a longer route that passes through near the SRP Pond which is approximately 3.7 kilometers.

"It is actually capable of (providing) comfortability for the 30 contingents for the street parade," said Labella.

As last year's Sinulogs sparked discussion among the public since it was the first time that the venue was transferred, Labella said they have already addressed the concerns last year.

Among these concerns were the installation of more bleachers in which Labella said the executive committee has been closely working on.

"Nya katong amphitheater -type (bleachers) is working out na ma-fulfill gyud to kay due to inclement weather last year, mao tong galisod gyud tag apas sa mga trabahuonon plus katong sa ground problems," said Labella.

On the previous controversies with the other local government units (LGU) brought by misunderstandings of the venue, Labella said they have already ironed out things and that have also extended support during the Sinulog sa Carmen.

“All I know is the Governor (Gwen) has a very good kuan (relationship) with the mayor, and the mayor is really welcome to embrace it with an open arm,” Labella said. — (FREEMAN)
