French artists make over city’s flyover

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The flyover along Archbishop Reyes Avenue in Cebu City gets a colorful makeover courtesy of French artists.

The French government brought Ceet Fouad and Distort Monsters artists to collaborate and create beautiful artwork together in one of the flyovers of Cebu City.

Ceet Fouad is known to be humanizing chicken and portrays emotions and personalities while Distor Monsters brings “monsters” to life, both in colorful and fun art.

Ceet Fouad said the project is such a “big challenge” but in just a few days, is almost done amid traffic in the area.

Their street art is expected to be a new attraction here. This is the kind of graffiti that the City needs and not the non-sense vandalism around.

According to one of Mayor Michael Rama’s special assistants, Ramil Ayuman, this is still part of the France-Philippines’ 75th’s diplomatic relations activities.

Such a milestone commits an even stronger partnership in many areas including trade and investment, defense and maritime cooperation, climate action, and cultural and people-to-people exchange.

Earlier, Rama had also instructed concerned departments to clean up fly-overs and beautify it, making the said project so timely.

The mayor also instructed the Cebu City Police Office for police visibility in flyovers after seeing them so dirty and disturbing foul smell due to human waste and other garbage including the Archbishop Reyes Avenue flyover before its transformation.

Aside from foul smell and garbage, it had also become a “sleeping area” for some street dwellers which the Mayor wanted out.
