CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Police Office has observed that violators of the minimum health protocols among minors have continuously increased despite a series of “Oplan Bulabog” they have conducted.

"Ato jud nakita nga daghan gyung minors ang nadakpan, and I think it's very timely that somehow we modified our conduct of Oplan Bulabog due to this current data," said Police Lt. Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, information officer of CCPO.

On Monday, the CCPO rescued a total of 56 minors committing different health protocol violations. Their parents were issued citation tickets. On Sunday, 23 minors were also apprehended.

For violation of the curfew ordinance, authorities have apprehended a total of 179 violators, adults included, while 38 individuals were caught not wearing their mask.

"So if we will make a trend daghan kaayo nga minors gyud ang contributors sa pagsaka sa atong statistics," said Macatangay.

The CCPO started on Monday the conduct of Oplan Bulabog during daytime as the number of COVID-19 cases surge. The police used to only do “Oplan Builabog” at night time.

"That is the challenge that we law enforcers are actively thinking on how to address...kay ang minors na nasita are those who don't have essential reason to go out, mang gawas ra, magtabi ra, wa pa gyuy mga facemask," said Macatangay.

Last Monday, police station commanders conducted massive information dissemination on the conduct of daytime “Oplan Bulabog” to remind the public to stay at home.

"There will be an active enforcement of Oplan Bulabog during daytime, starting today,we will be expecting reports from our station commanders..by today, mag enforce na atong mga station chiefs, so walay mahay kay na inform naman sila,"said Macatangay.

Further, Macatangay also appealed to the barangay officials to also take an initiative in implementing the health protocols on their own in their respective jurisdictions. — FPL (FREEMAN)
