8 minors rescued from internet café

CEBU, Philippines — Around eight minors have been rescued by the Task Force Kasaligan of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) in Barangay Tisa for allegedly playing inside a computer shop without facemasks and no social distancing.

Police Lt. Colonel Clark Arriola, CCPO information officer, said they are closely monitoring the internet shops following demand of online classes, making sure that minimum health standard protocols are being observed.

“Actually kining internet cafe enclosed gani siya so dapat naa to atong minimum health protocols, the wearing of face mask, ang social distancing, so naka-violate jud sila sa ordinance nato,” Arriola told reporters yesterday.

Arriola said they are taking a consideration since the online classes have begun but he reminded the internet cafe owners of their responsibility to impose measures that prevent transmission of the coronavirus disease.

“Kay dili sad dapat nila (i-retain) ilang usual arrangement sa ilang computers na tupad kaayo, kay gani man sabton nato kay klase na, naay uban nato nga mga estudyante nga mga kaugalingon nga laptop, tablet pero dili sad nato iingon nga pasagdan nato sila nga tupad-tupad sila, so hangyo nato sa atong mga internet cafes mohimo sad sila og kaugalingon nilang action,” said Arriola.

Arriola said that all station commanders were directed to sustain their regular inspections on establishments especially internet cafes over their area of responsibility as the enforcement of the minimum health standard protocols will be the top priority.

Aside from the rescued minors, the Task Force Kasaligan members also gave warning to at least 50 individuals and caught five persons for going out without quarantine passes during their patrol from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. — GMR (FREEMAN)
