Madridejos sitio under lockdown; 9 residents test positive for COVID-19
CEBU, Philippines — A purok in Barangay Talangnan, Madridejos in Bantayan Island has been placed under granular lockdown after nine of its residents tested positive of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
An executive order was issued by Madridejos Mayor Salvador dela Fuente declaring Purok Nukos, Sitio Kalubihan of the said barangay under granular lockdown after it was considered as “critical zone” in the town.
Based on September 30, 2020 data released by the Department of Health, nine out of 10 newly confirmed cases of Covid-19 are residents of the said area.
These are from the 59 swabs specimen submitted where 49 were tested negative of the virus.
Locking up the area is the measure made by the local government unit to “focus containment, community quarantine in the area” to avoid the spread of the virus.
“The movement and activities of persons within the critical zone is temporarily restricted and enforced by the Barangay within the duration of the quarantine period stated,” read the order.
Two adjacent puroks in the said barangay - Purok Helenggero and Purok Gawot - shall be likewise monitored as they are considered as “containment zone” or areas without Covid-19 infection but are adjacent or nearby areas of the critical zone which is Purok Nukos.
The EO stated that affected establishments or facilities with Covid-19 cases and are located within the critical zone shall be temporarily closed for 14 days.
“Establishments/facilities involved in the production and delivery of essential goods and services, with no confirmed positive Covid-19 cases, are allowed to open subject to the prevailing guidelines on community quarantine such as limited operational capacity or skeletal workforce,” the EO further stated. — GMR (FREEMAN)
