CEBU, Philippines — Cebu-based taxi hailing firm Micab will put up digital hailing stations at SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City and  Ayala Center Cebu where taxi passengers who do not have the Micab App can book through these stations.

Just last month, Micab was given an accreditation as a transport network company by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) which makes it eligible to operate in the country.

"Those who do not have a Micab app, adto ra sila aning hailing stations for their taxi booking," said Eddie Ybañez, founder and chief executive officer of Micab.

Ybañez said that next year, they will extend their services so that commuters can book for jeepney, van for hire and bus rides.

"Through the Micab Apps, pwede na ka mo-book sa jeepney, bus ug van for hire sa imong lingkuran. Bale adto lang ka maghuwat sa designated jeepney stop or bus stop," Ybañez said adding this will conform to the Public Utility Jeepney Modernization program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Ybañez explained that Micab is now available as both an Android and IOs application.

Micab is available for taxi passengers in Cebu, Metro Manila and Baguio.

"So far, there are 3,000 taxi units in Cebu that have Micab applications. We have no booking fee and no surge prices," assured Ybañez.

He said that they are not imposing any booking fee since they earn through digital advertisements inside the taxi and from the P600 for each unit for the used tab and connection with Micab.

Ybañez said they intend to have all taxi units in Cebu, which are more than 5,000, connected to Micab.

He urged Cebuanos to download the Micab app and enjoy a safe and convenient ride.

Micab, which was founded in 2012 in Cebu City, is the fifth ride-hailing company approved this year by LTFRB.

The other four are Owto, Hirna, Hype and  Go Lag. —/MBG (FREEMAN)
