Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Two casual employees of San Remigio town were charged with robbery after they were arrested for allegedly stealing money from the office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue Thursday last week.

Jasper Dosdos and Jeslab Añonuevo of Barangay Argawanon and Poblacion, San Remigio, respectively, admitted breaking into the BIR office and stealing P6,700 cash.

Chief Inspector Alexander Ancao, San Remigio police chief, said the suspects are already facing charges before the Regional Trial Court Branch 61 in Bogo City.

Ancao said Dosdos and Añonuevo were arrested Friday last week during a follow-up operation after the burglary incident was reported.

The suspects were invited by the police for questioning because of suspicions that they were involved.

According to Ancao, Dosdos and Añonuevo admitted during investigation that they broke into the BIR office and stole the money from one of the cabinets inside.

The suspects gained entrance through an empty air conditioning panel at the Traffic Management Office and detached the jalousie blades.

Ancao said Dosdos and Añonuevo are also involved in the alleged stealing of rice stocks at the Municipal Social Welfare and Development office.

Aside from them, two other casual employees are believed to be involved.

The FREEMAN withheld the names of the two other employees pending the filing of the formal charges.

Ancao said the MSWD head is still conducting inventory of the rice stocks which are allegedly intended for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda.

“Mao nay angkon sa duha nga adlawang dako gani sila nagkuha ug tulo ka sako pero magpaabot una ta sa inventory sa taga-MSWD,” said Ancao. — /FPL (FREEMAN)
