Police arrest 5 men for drug Possession

CEBU, Philippines - A suspected drug pusher was arrested by Talisay City police in a buy-bust operation yesterday afternoon in Sitio Lower Crusher, Lawaan 3, Talisay City,

Ramil Matadero, 32, was arrested by Talisay City police after he reportedly sold shabu to a police poseur-buyer during the buy-bust operation.

PO1 Joseph Bejer, desk officer, said the police received an anonymous tip coming from a concerned citizen regarding the alleged illegal activities of the suspect.

The tipster said that the suspect has been engaged in selling shabu in Talisay prompting the city chief, Superintendent Reycel Carmelo Dayon, to send his men to conduct a surveillance operation.

After they reportedly proved that the information is accurate, a buy-bust operation was conducted by Talisay City police operatives.

A covert operative transacted with the suspect and right after the suspect handed over a pack of suspected shabu, police officers arrested Matadero.

Inspector Rodgene Fudotan, deputy chief, recovered eight small packs and one medium pack of suspected shabu estimated to be worth P60,000 once sold in the streets.

Bejer said Matadero’s name is included in their list of noted drug pushers in the area.

The suspect is temporarily detained in the Talisay City Police Station while the police are preparing a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against him.

Meanwhile, four were arrested by the Cebu City police after an intensified police operation was conducted against all forms of criminality.

Rufino Togono Jr., 33, was arrested in Barangay Binaliw for carrying a homemade caliber .38 revolver and three small packs of suspected shabu while Ariel Lacaron, 22, was arrested in A. Lopez Street, barangay Calamba after he was caught with three small packs of suspected shabu.

Solomon Omiping of Katipunan, Labangon and Melchor Macaraya of barangay Bonbon were arrested for theft and carrying of drugs, respectively. (FREEMAN)
