Jean Marvette A. Demecillo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Business firms and social civic organizations will hold their fourth benefit concert on Saturday to help the victims of super typhoon Yolanda in the northern Cebu.

The concert dubbed as #BangonSugBogo was organized by the BangonSugBohol Movement of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cebu Business Club, All Rotary Clubs, and other various organizations.

CCCI executive director Melanie Ng said that the activity was coined as BangonSugBogo concert because it will be held either outside the devastated sports complex in Bogo or in the city's plaza. Ng said they are also inviting the neighboring municipalities to be part of the movement.

She said that they tapped other Local Government Units and other private groups to be part in pursuing this concert for they can offer their relief operations there while holding the concert. She added that they are expecting 5,000 attendees from the place and its neighboring municipalities which are badly hit by the super typhoon.

It is also timely to remind the people that everyone is a hero because it falls on Bonifacio Day. The free concert will start at 5:30 p.m.

The BangonSugBohol Movement earlier held three free concerts which enable it to raise P4 million accumulated cash donations from the participants. The amount was immediately given to the victims of earthquake in Cebu and Bohol.

A similar benefit concert is also being eyed for Bantayan, Camotes, and other municipalities ravaged by the super typhoon.

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide, III commended the private and civic organizations for spontaneously extending humanitarian aid during the recent calamities.— (FREEMAN)
