Paolo’s gun licenses revoked

Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine National Police has revoked the licenses of the guns that Pablo “Paolo” Garcia III, son of suspended governor Gwendolyn Garcia, and his friends own.

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 received last Monday a memorandum from Camp Crame’s Firearms and Explosives Office dated March 15 revoking the licenses of Paolo, Jose Marie Primitivo Cal and Tonyson Luther Sun Lee.

Garbo said the revocation of the license was a consequence of last December’s incident at the Provincial Capitol involving Insp. Alvin Enguito of the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB).

The memorandum also states that the revocation is “within the purview of Standard Operating Procedure No. 13 (Licensing of Firearm), for having been charged for violation of Article 148 or Direct Assault before the Cebu City Prosecutors Office after they reportedly attacked and harassed a PNP officer performing lawful orders in the evening of December 19, 2012 at the premises of the Cebu Provincial Capitol Building, Barangay Capitol, Cebu City.”

PRO 7 has accounted eight firearms under Garcia III’s name, three under Cal, and four under Lee.

“We will officially notify them that their license to possess firearms were cancelled and for them to surrender the said firearms,” said Garbo.

The PRO 7 director further said that they will secure a search warrant should the three refuse to surrender their firearms.

In a report over GMA 7 Balitang Bisdak, Paolo said he has not yet received any official letter regarding the matter.

“If they say it is revoked, then I cannot do anything about it,” said Paolo in a text message.

He said the police are using its power to unarm him so that he cannot protect himself or his family anymore.

“If anything happens, then I hope they will be able to protect us,” said Paolo adding that he does not own eight firearms. — (FREEMAN)
