Minor robs videoke house cashier

CEBU, Philippines - A 16-year-old boy who daringly robbed the cashier of a videoke house was arrested in Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City yesterday.

Jay (real name withheld for being a minor) was arrested shortly after he pointed a gun at the establishment’s 16-year-old cashier and declared a robbery.

SPO4 Gil Lastimosa of Toledo City Police Station said the videoke house, owned by one Farid Baena, operated the whole night.

Around 5 am, Jay, a resident of Magsaysay Hills of the same barangay, arrived sporting a black shirt, black shorts, black cap, and his face covered with a scarf.

The suspect headed towards the cashier and declared a hold up, while pointing an unknown caliber of gun at the victim.

The suspect reportedly saw a towel and tied it around the victim’s neck.

While holding the towel, the suspect took the cash amounting to P860 from the cashier’s box including the coins and fled on foot.

The victim, who luckily escaped from any harm, reported the matter to her employer and had the incident reported to the police.

Police conducted a hot pursuit operation along with the victim that led to the suspect’s arrest in sitio Planta, Barangay Poblacion. The victim pointed at him as the one who robbed her.

The minor is now detained and will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
